Palisades, TX Real Estate Market & Area Focus

The tiny village of Palisades, TX has a population of 327 and covers a total area of 0.6 square miles in Randall County, just 9.9 miles from the city of Amarillo. With approximately 144 households in the community, 35.4% have children under the age of 18. The median age is 39 years. In the last two decades, the population has increased over 50%.

The communities of Lake Tanglewood, Timbercreek Canyon, North Randall, Canyon, Amarillo, Bishop Hills, Happy, and Claude surround Palisades, none at a further distance than five miles.

In Lubbock, about 100 miles away, the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center with 2,626 students, and Texas Tech University with an enrollment of 25,860 are also near enough for easily accessible higher learning. South Plains College is 108 miles from Palisades, in Levelland.

Unemployment is lower in Palisades than the rest of the state of Texas. While the state shows an unemployment rate of 7.0%, this tiny village comes in at 4.3%. The average commute time for employed Palisades residents is 29.6 minutes.

Area Profile:

Like the other communities in Randall County, the residents of Palisades live in close proximity of the second largest canyon in the Country. The Palo Duro Canyon is about 120 miles long. The average width of the canyon system is 6.2 miles, but at some places it is 20 miles wide. It’s been nicknamed the Grand Canyon of Texas.
